7 Days to 20: WinterHaven Book's Interview

Welcome to the third day of my event! Yesterday, I had the lovely Giselle from Xpresso Reads stop by and yesterday I had the wonderful Jenni from Alluring Reads. Today is the ladies of WinterHaven Books over. I would like to thank the women for contributing their information.

Amber:
What are some memorable moments you had as a teen?
One of my most fun and memorable moments as a teen would be when I learned how to drive a stick-shift. A friend of mine had "borrowed" her sisters car. We set out late at night and cruised the neighborhood. There were so many laughs at our faulty shifting skills. That could have been due to our unstoppable laughter. The car lurched forward with a hard jerk, then proceeded to stutter and role to a complete stop over and over. I could have sworn we had whip-lash from the jerking motions. I'm sure we were a sight to see. I had been told many times growing up that learning to drive a manual was important. Maybe those people knew it would create lifelong memorable moments and a valuable lesson...wear a neck support when learning to drive a stick-shift.

Arlene:
If there was something that you could change, what would it be?
If I could change one thing that would be that I would have taken a road trip with my friends either the summer before college or sometime during my first year of college. It would have been awesome to explore more of the US before the stress of declaring a major, completing my internships and looking for a job became my focus. I love to read about road trips, especially in stories such an Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, so I wish I would have experienced one in my late teens.

Cristina
What do you still carry with you (material items or values or etc) that you still have today?
...I kept a phrase in my life that I learned my freshmen year of high school;  "Hope for the best but expect the worse" Oddly, they've been words that have grounded me throughout my better and worst days.

Crystal:
If you could travel back in time and give your teen self one advice, what would it be?
I would tell myself to not be so shy!  I was really and I mean REALLY shy in high school and I know I missed out on great friendships by being quiet.  I had a wonderful group of friends, but I wonder now if maybe I missed out on lifelong friend because I was too scared to say "Hi".  That and to stay home on March 15, 1998...why will remain my secret forever, but lets just say the night did not turn out the way I needed it too lol!

Thank you so much ladies! You are so awesome!

And don't forget about my giveaway!

7 Days to 20: Jenni Interview

Welcome to the second day of my event! Yesterday, I had the lovely Giselle from Xpresso Reads stop by and today I have the wonderful Jenni from Alluring Reads who will share her own teen experience. I just want to give a big thank you to her for sharing something really personal with all of us.

What was your teen experience like?

My teen experience was full of ups & downs to be honest.  I absolutely loved Junior High, it was so much fun and everyone at my school was so welcoming.  Near the tail end of junior high though, I started hanging out with, I guess the "wrong crowd."  Going into high school my parents wanted me to go to the same high school that my sister and brother had gone to years before, but I wanted to go to the school that all of my friends were going to. So I got my way and it didn't go to well.  I ended up on the outs with said friends and spent my entire first semester of high school being bullied.  I can remember actually being pushed down stairs and people stealing my binder and trashing all my notes.  After the first semester I switched to the school that my parents had originally wanted me to go to and things got way better! I guess the moral of my story is listen to your parents! Sometimes they DO know best!

What is a memorable (good or experiencing) moment during your teen years?

Once I finished high school and was 17-19 life really looked up! I met my the man that I later married when I was 17 and I had my first child, a little girl named Sloane, when I was 18.  I started my family really young and we are still going strong!

-If you could go back in time and give your teen self any type of advice, what would it be and why?

My teen years were pretty much ruined early on by the people that I surrounded myself with and if I could go back and tell myself one thing it would be that none of them will matter in 5 years.  I don't have one person in my life from Junior High or High School and when I think back to how much I let those people affect me makes me sad because it could have been way better back then.

7 Days to 20: Giselle Interview

Hello all! I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Kicking off my event today, 7 Days to 20, is an interview with the one and only Giselle from Xpresso Reads, who, I should mentioned, helped me come up with this wonderful concept. I sent Giselle a series of questions to ask about her own teen experience and here is what she said:

What are some memorable moments that you had as a teen?
I was a pretty boring  teenager in a very small town so I don't have juicy stories to share on here--sorry :P so let's go with injuries--I have plenty of those! :) So i was riding my bike one day and my friend's bike wheel hit mine and I fell, right only face, and I skidded on the pavement for what felt like 15 minutes. I spent 3 nights in the hospital puking my guts off because of a concussion, I thought I would be scared fro life and deformed or something, but nope I came out just fine, except I still have a bump on my forehead from it. So I guess that's pretty memorable.

Oh and on New Years day 2001, I wanted to make fries and I left the grease on too long, it caught fire, almost burned our whole house down. I panicked and took the pot from its handle and brought it outside. I threw it in the snow thinking I was so smart, except when I threw it, the fire just shot right back at my face, burned my eyebrows and bangs off. That was pretty cute. I lived, again! To this day I still won't go near cooking oil.

-If you could go back in time and give your teen self any advice what would it be?
Don't try cooking? Ha! Ok *serious face* I guess I would tell myself to smarten up and break up with that ass! For real, my high school boyfriend was a jerk wad and it took way too long for me to realize this. What a waste of a few years! >.< I'd also tell myself that while some say high school is the best time of your life, what comes AFTER is the best time of mine, and all those jerks at school, they all try to add you on Facebook in 5 years and you DENY their friend request! Muahaha. Also, get rid of that eyebrow ring, it's so not you, and while it may suck to look years younger than you are now, people aren't laughing anymore! ;)

-What do you still carry with you (material item, values, etc) that you had as a teen? And has that helped you in anyway?
Hmm nothing really. I still have my addiction to lip balm though. Can't go a day without it or my lips might fall off or something! I also still have my best friend from before high school-1st grade even. So that's pretty valuable :) My high school wasn't the easiest so I kind of left it all behind and moved on. I'm not one to hang on to my past.
Come back tomorrow for the next interviewer!

7 Days to 20

Hello dears!

The day is slowly approaching in which I will no longer be a teen! That's right, I am entering my 20's. And as a celebration, the week of February 18th I will be having a week long event in which myself and some fellow bloggers take a look back at the teen years!

The following bloggers have all agreed to participate:
Giselle from Xpresso Reads
Jenni from Alluring Reads
Melissa from Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf
And the ladies from WinterHaven Books

While they will be having a little interview, if anyone wants to take part in this don't be shy and just send me an email!

AND not only will have these lovely ladies stop by BUT during the week (February 18th - February 25th) I will also be hosting a giveaway each day. Seven books will be going out to seven lucky winners along with Victoria Schawb THE ARCHIVED bookmarks, which will also be sent to two winners! So, a total of nine winners to be announced.

Also, each day I will be putting up discussions and making some list, some which include:
-My teen experience
-Top Ten books that Changed My Teen-self
-Books that no teen should ever NOT read

If any suggestions, let me know!

I am beyond excited!

The banner, by the way, and the button were both made by the wonderful Giselle from Xpresso Designs.

No better way to celebrate entering my twenties than to celebrate it with you guys!
