About

Why hello there!

-About Me-
If you have stumbled upon this page it's most likely because you want to know more about me, though honestly there isn't much to say. I can just say, "Hey, my name is Marybeth and your on my blog," but let's see if I can say a little more. So, I'll just start with the basics. My name is Marybeth and I'm a college student. I'm Dominican-American, which just means that I can speak Spanglish very efficiently.

When it comes to books I pretty much read just about anything. I love YA/Adult books, but I'm not too into the non-fiction type.  As for vampires, werewolves, and ghosts? They've got nothing on witches. And out of all the books I read I love SERIES. What can I say? I hate when the story just ends; I want to see more of them. Reading is a great passion, if someone were to ask me my favorite book it would change constantly.

My favorite authors, as of right now are: Jodi Picoult, Meg Cabot, Jodi Picoult, Lisi Harrison, J.R. Ward, Jodi Picoult, Lauren Oliver, Diana Gabaldon, Dan Brown, Julie Kagawa, Beth Revis, Jodi Picoult, Suzanne Collins, Holly Black, Melissa Mayhue, Kami Garcia, Margaret Stohl, Jodi Picoult, Kimberly Derting, Cassandra Clare, Veronica Roth, Jodi Picoult, Karen Marie Moning, Rachel Caine, and did I mention Jodi Picoult?

I'm 20, I was born in New York City, but currently live in a small town in Wisconsin. I'm studying English and Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. I hope to see law school in my future, but maybe I will see my MFA in Creative Writing or possibly a PhD with a focus in Medieval Literature. So many choices, so it's a good thing I have a while to go.  Though my ultimate dream is to become a writer.

Besides reading (yes, I do more than just read) is hanging out with friends, watching movies (especially those based on books), listening to music, writing, playing the viola, baking, playing mindless games, traveling, surfing the web, eating frozen yogurt, watching Spanish soap operas, and tweeting (I'm a little obsessed and usually it's very mindless tweeting).

I am a proud sister of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. Reborn into Gammalandia on April 14th, 2013 at 8:21pm.

-About the Blog-
Manhattan Reader got started in July of 2011 when I stumbled upon the book blogging community. I gave little reviews a few times in my personal blog but nothing too serious. And I've had this blog since June of 2008, but never really did anything with it (which is why my URL doesn't match my blog title), until I found a use for it.

Now, I don't consider myself a professional blogger. I suck at replying back to emails on time, due to my schedule I don't always update everyday like a good little blogger, and when I do review it's usually very conversational. I write the way I talk, so sometimes there's a lot of sarcasm or being silly or sometimes just using too much !!!! or CAPS LIKE THIS! And sometimes I reveal a little too much about myself in my reviews, but that's okay.
