Top Ten Tuesdays: Books I Bought Because of Their Covers

Top Ten is a daily meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

1. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
This cover is so eye catching and gives off a hint of mystery. I love the coloring and the layers. And every time I look at this cover I see something new. I never saw the wolf in the corner before, I swear. I picked this book up because of the cover and it is one of my favorite books.

2. Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
Originally I feel for the other cover, but when I got this one it was the only left on the shelves and decided to just get it because I love both covers. I wish they wouldn't change them so much, but that's just me. Either way I still love it. I love anything with this haunting coloring to it. It's just awesome, I think. Dark colors and the way they shade them.

3. Morganville Vampires volume 1 by Rachel Caine
I can honestly say that the cover had attracted me to this book. I probably would not have bought the first one or the second one with the covers they have. This was much more attractive and so are the the newer books in the series that are coming out, but I already have a trend going so I have to wait for the other volumes to be released, but I love all the covers.

4. Fallen by Lauren Kate

I'm ashamed to say that I fell for the cover and if the story had been as good as the cover I would have loved it all, but sadly the cover is the only thing that this book has going for it. At least the other books get somewhat better, but I did get this book for the cover. Wish I would have been smarter about that.

5. Wither by Lauren DeStefano.
This is another book where the cover completely deceived me. It's pretty, attractive, eye catcher, but the story is just rotten on the inside and the cover is just a little distraction to the horror inside. Again, not one of my smarter moves.

6. Falling Under by Gwen Hayes

My first debut novel for the challenge that I read. I loved the dress, I loved all that blond hair, and it's creepy! It had it all, luckily this book up does love to it's fabulous cover.

7. Abandon by Meg Cabot

I'm not sure if this one should even count because I love everything Meg Cabot. She is just awesome and lately her covers have gone from the bright pinks and blues and such to the dark mystery stuff that gets my eye. I am such a freak, I know, but I can't help it. There's this haunting appearance about these books that makes a person want to pick one up.

8. Divergent by Veronica Roth

Just a little aside, I feel like I put this book up for all the Top Tens that I've done, so that just makes it awesome. And look at the cover! Do I really need to say it? Some covers just live up to their awesomeness.

9. A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davis

I'm I the only one that is noticing that some of the awesome covers have girl's in dresses in them...even the not-so-awesome books? But anyways, A Beautiful Dark I just bought because it had a girl in a dress, looking out into a haunting horizon. What can I say?

10. Fury by Elizabeth Miles

Another girl in a dress. And with fiery red hair! That just looks awesome.

Beautiful covers!

Divergent is one of my favorite books EVER. Loved it like whoa.

Wither and Abandon were both on my list, too. I liked Wither but I really didn't care for Abandon at all. I also think that Fury has a totally gorgeous cover and I hope to check that book out soon. :) Great list!

Morganville Vampires is an awesome series and I love the cover of Wither as well but the story was meh. I also like the cover for Abandon but haven't read it yet.

I had Fallen as well...and I also bought Torment without even having read Fallen, because they looked sooo good together!

Divergent is certainly eye catching. I've seen it on quite a few lists today.

Love your list especially Divergent & Fury - something about red hair contrasts so well - that's why I had Imaginary Girls on my list

Covers always draw me in first, especially if I haven't heard of the book before. I love the covers of Wither and Falling Under. Something about pretty dresses always makes me look twice. (Must be the shopaholic in me). I also wish I could get my hair into perfect curls like on the cover of Falling Under.

Wither was so disappointing! Such a gorgeous cover and design inside.

I too was bummed by Fallen and Wither, especially the latter which was pretty terrible. I'm giving Lauren Kate another shot though - okay, I confess, I bought the other two books in the trilogy because the covers were also really pretty! I never learn.

YA books get some lovely covers these days don't they? Girls in dresses, indeed - they do such a great job on the designs. So much better than the YA books when I was a teen.

I'm curious about Abandon...

Here's my list

Shiver and Divergent were on my list as well. Both were books where I initially was drawn to the cover - and ended up loving the story.
