It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.
Em and Chase have been chosen.

I got this book just as it came out and as I was reading I cursed myself for not having picked this book up sooner. I was completely captivated from the start and could not stop myself from taking in everything that was happening. It was almost like I couldn't read fast enough and some of the words just slipped out of this book coming to life.

This entire world that Elizabeth has created has come to life in ways that I could never imagined. I've always been fascinated with Greek mythology and when I realized what this book was about, I just knew it had to be great.

First off, is the cover. Can it be anymore beautiful? I'm thinking that this is Ty, and I wouldn't doubt that in the next two books the other two Furies appear. I just love the way Ty's hair goes from just the typical flowing hair to almost like fire. Whoever designed this is my hero. And not to mention the eyes, I felt like those popped out at me. Either that or I just get a little jumpy each time I think about the story and then I look at the cover.

Now onward to the meat of the tale. I can't believe I just said that. Anyways, Elizabeth's story was an amazing tale that I couldn't put down. The story comes to life as Em and Chase are haunted by the Furies who are out for vengeance. Em, who hooks up with her best friends boyfriend, and Chase, who holds a dark secret that haunts him.

As the story unraveled and the dark worlds of these teenagers were revealed, I felt myself getting goosebumps. I know that if the Furies were ever around, I would probably be on their Hit List. These women are cold to the core.

I could almost feel Em's desperation and Chase's need. I even felt sorry for them, because they got wrapped up in the world that is a teenagers life, and for that they were punished. I almost want to say that they had it coming for what they did, but I still feel bad.

I was always confused about Ty's intentions from the start when she was running after Chase, and of Ali as well. But it became almost clear near the end.

I really want to read the second book now because these three are not finished yet and they are out to get even. I've always believed in karma myself, so it should be interesting what happens in the next two books.

Miles wove together a beautiful original tale about what happens when teenagers play with fire...and get seriously burned.
